District and Parish Elections May 2023

This year’s District and Parish Elections will be held on the 4th May 2023. This page has been created to give residents the main information on how to vote, new voter ID rules, timetable of events and details for residents who might want to stand to be a District or Parish Council candidate.

There are two District Councillor and eleven Parish Councillor seats up for re-election. As Westfield has separate wards it means there are two seats in Kent Street Ward, two seats in Westfield Lane Ward and seven in Westfield (village) Ward. With each ward if less people come forward than seats then it will be an uncontested election. This means that the number of candidates is the same as or fewer than the number of places available for election. If this happens all candidates are guaranteed to be elected and there will be no vote on candidates. If more candidates come forward it is then a contested election and there will be a vote at the ballot box.
