Introduction
This consultation closed on the 31st January at midnight. Thank you to all the residents who filled this in. The Parish Council has in principle agreed to raise funds through grants and a PWLB loan to carry out a range of works on the open spaces the Parish Council manage or own. The feedback from this consultation will help inform how this project is delivered and looking and key priorities for residents.
A summary report from the consultation will be issued to Cllrs at the February Full Council meeting. These findings will also be displayed at the next Annual Parish Assembly on the 20th March 2023.
In April/May 2024 the Parish Council will be meeting to discuss potential plans for the next couple of years and looking to prioritise what works will be carried out on the different areas all within a set and agreed budget.
Part of the ongoing engagement for the open spaces project included some of the Parish Council meeting with Westfield Primary School Council which is made up of students from each of the year groups. The students behaviour and attitude was amazing. They all listened and engaged and gave such valuable ideas about how they thought the Parish Council could get feedback from the rest of the school. These suggestions will be put to Full Council in February and the Parish Council looks forward to continue working with the students.
Background
This page has been set up for those wanting more back ground and details to some of the sections. To find out more please click on the relevant heading:
The Open Spaces Consultation questionnaire was developed based on several key factors including feedback from the 2020 questionnaire, the Parish Council taking on the recreational ground at Westfield Down, the future use of the Parish Field and the current use and perception of the other spaces managed by the Parish Council.
This next stage is to look at addressing key areas from the 2020 questionnaire. Some projects the Parish Council have already started or nearing completion. This has including bringing superfast broadband to the Parish via an Openreach community fibre project, improving the biodiversity at the Parish Field through a LUND grant by removing the leylandii trees and managing the yew trees, setting up a weekly community hub with the church and working with East Sussex County Council to improve the Westfield Lane bus stops. The Parish Council is also looking at the speeding within the Parish but that is still in the early stages of getting data and will be worked on separately.
So, your feedback is important and can get things done!
For this questionnaire the key areas we are looking at the priorities for the open green spaces and public realm areas/items. The open green spaces the Parish Council does or will manage include:
- Parish Field (managed in partnership with Westfield Football Club)
- Recreation Ground
- The site opposite Churchfields (playground owned by the Parish Council, grass and trees managed by Southern Housing)
- Cricket Ground (managed by Westfield Cricket Club)
- Westfield Down recreation area (this site is currently not in ownership of the Parish Council but hopefully will be in the near future.)
Please provide your honest opinions and experiences in answering the following questions. We’ve tried to keep this questionnaire as concise as possible.
What Happens Next
The questionnaire will be open until the end of January. The results will be put together and discussed at the 21st February 2024 full council meeting
